We have a bold vision to transform people's lives and we are looking for a team to help achieve it.  Role Description:  This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding organisation as the Residential Childcare Worker in one of our children's homes. As our Residential Childcare Worker you will deliver a sensitive and nurturing recovery focus approach to Children and Young People aged between 10-19 years of age who have experienced adverse childhood and experiences and present with behaviours which challenge. The role requires you to promote a restorative culture and utilise skills of trauma informed approaches to meet the support needs of the individual children's social, psychological, behavioural cultural and educational needs. It is important for this role to have a positive attitude towards working with young people and have a flexible approach to work as you will be required to complete sleep-ins which you will receive additional pay for.   Knowledge required: Essential:
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and its protective policies and procedures.
  • An understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences
  • A clear understanding of Health and Safety and Risk Management processes.
  • An understanding of child-centred and young person-led working.
  • An understanding of Diversity and Equalities and of their significance to the post.
  • A thorough understanding of Professional Boundaries and their application to safe working practice.
  Desirable: 
  • An understanding of the Ofsted Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards. 
  • An understanding of the Ofsted inspection process.
  • Direct experience of working with young people within a residential setting.
  • Direct experience of working with young people with adverse childhood experiences and additional support needs.
  • Experience with embedded risk management processes.
  • Experience in Positive behaviour support
  • Experience in supporting an environment which reflects Diversity and Equalities.
  • Experience in collaborative Partnership multi-agency practice.

  Key Responsibilities: 
  • To provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm
  • Utilise and apply Omegas approach to recovery and trauma to support children in our care, using the PACE model 
  • Maintaining a safe, home environment 
  • Adhere to the individual emotional needs of the children (including promoting a positive sense of self-worth, personal identity, and cultural and faith-based needs) 
  • Encourage practical self-care needs, such as; indoor, and outdoor activities, cooking, cleaning, washing, shopping and budgeting pocket money
  • Transport to and from school
  • Adherence to the protection of children to safeguard their welfare and wellbeing. This is inclusive of upholding a safeguarding ethos and working towards reducing Missing from Care, Child Sexual Exploitation and Child Criminal Exploitation through Omega Care Group procedures and protocols.
  • Facilitate and contribute to agreed risk management measures centred on individual child’s needs.
  • Develop and promote the engagement of accessible and meaningful education and training opportunities in line with the education standard.
  • To work in partnership with each young person to actively promote the voice of the child taking into account their wishes, feelings and needs
  • Build trusting and positive relationships with the children
  • To participate in effective multi-agency partnerships working with professionals and relevant others in the best interest of the young person.
  • Utilise Omega Care Group’s recording and reporting procedures to ensure effective information sharing is maintained with all relevant stakeholders in line with GDPR standards.
  • Support health needs; manage any necessary medication in accordance with procedure.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development through training and supervision.
  • Utilise reflective practice as an aspect of their ongoing personal development
  • Omega Care Groups operates all year round to support children and young people. Staff will be expected to operate across 7 days of the week. This includes sleep-in duties. Hours of work and shift patterns are to suit the needs of the service.
